Singapore currently has around 75% of its population vaccinated and plans to have quarantine-free travel and fewer restrictions from September, but you need to be aware that they take regulations extremely seriously and quarantine violations can result in fines of around £7,000 and/or six months in jail.

Entry Requirements

Those that are visiting Singapore from countries that have an Air Travel Pass agreement will need to apply for the entry, submit health information and travel details from the previous two weeks.

Additionally, they will need to pay for a PCR test upon arrival, download the Trace Together app, and have non-residential accommodation for 48 hours while they wait for test results.

Masks

You will need to wear a mask at all times while out in public with the only exemptions being while eating and exercising. Obviously, the COVID-19 situation is fast-changing, so you need to make sure that you stay current with the latest developments.

Business Etiquette

In addition to COVID-19 regulations, it is also important to be aware of business etiquette in Singapore as it is quite different and plays a major role in how people conduct business and build professional relationships.

Respect

One of the most notable aspects of business etiquette in Singapore is the great respect shown to elders. The oldest person in a business is usually in a leadership position when communicating with others and you always need to introduce the most important people that you are with first.

Slow Negotiations

In addition to this, you need to understand that negotiations are generally much different from Western culture. In Singapore, there is a much slower pace to negotiations, and time is often spent getting to know one another first – this means that you may be asked questions that seem personal, but it is all about making a connection.

This does mean that you often have to meet multiple times, which is why it is a good idea to book into serviced apartments Singapore so that you can easily meet each day.

Hopefully, this information will come in useful if you are planning a business trip to Singapore and help both in terms of COVID-19 regulations and etiquette.
